For the aspiring candidate each mark is important, so every topic is important for gaining that mark.
In that case Current Affairs & G.K part plays a crucial part, since there is no definite and FINITE material for CA & GK most candidates omit this part. This is simply SUICIDE for a serious candidate. As far as the recent TNPSC exams the questions on CA & GK have the same percentage i.e approx 20%. Only the kind of questions have changed not the CA & GK part in-toto. I have made some crude analysis from the recent TNPSC exams:
